Recruitment Process and Timelines

The OIP recruitment schedule is outlined below. Successful candidates will be contacted after the end of each stage. A checkmark beside the stage, indicates the stage is completed.

Note: dates are subject to change depending on the volume of applications received.

Application
January 4 to February 1, 2010
Applicants are required to complete a standard on-line application that is used for all focus areas. Only one application per candidate is accepted. After submitting your application online, you will receive an electronic message confirming receipt of your application. For additional information on submitting your application, please review Apply Online. Note that only successful candidates will be contacted.
Application Screening

Applications will be reviewed and assessed against a consistent set of program selection criteria for each focus area. Candidates who score well during the screening stage will be invited to take part in the testing stage of the recruitment process.
Written Test

The testing session will consist of a computer-based written test. Please note, if contacted you must be available during this period to complete your test. Only candidates with the highest scores will be contacted for an interview.
Interviews

Candidates will be interviewed for the focus area chosen on the internship application. An interview panel will interview the highest-scoring applicants. The panel will ask each candidate a standard set of questions. The process will also include the completion of a related test/presentation scheduled to take place at the same time as the interview. Please note: candidates selected to attend an interview must provide proof of their educational credentials at the time of the interview.
Reference Checks

All candidates who are interviewed are required to provide contact information for references that have direct knowledge of the candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. Reference checks will be completed on top scoring candidates.
Job Offer
April 2010
A job offer will be made to successful candidates. Please note, offers are conditional subject to meeting eligibility requirements.
Placement Notification
May 2010
Successful candidates will be notified of their assigned work placements.
Internship Begins
June 2010
Internships will begin in June 2010.
